Robson Mafoti appointed Adjunct Professor of Chemistry

Robson Mafoti, the current Chief Executive Office of the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC), has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Chemistry in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (SNSM). Professor Mafoti is a well known scientist holding several USA and foreign patents with global experience covering licensing and patent requirements, research and development, acquisitions as well as operations support.

“The new professorship will be catalytic in many ways and is expected to strengthen the department of Chemistry and research collaboration with other world-class research
organisations,” as Professor Enock Jonathan, Executive Dean of SNSM, explains. He adds: “We expect this will lead to increased focus on Chemistry, both in terms of new students applying for education here, and major new research activities of high national economic impact informed by the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIMASSET).”

Professor Mafoti holds an MSc and PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from the Rice University, Texas, USA; an MSc degree in Analytical Chemistry from Texas Southern University, USA; as well as a BSc in Chemistry and Biology awarded by the National University of Lesotho, Lesotho. His industrial experience includes stints with Schnee Morehead Inc., USA, Wilsonart International Inc., USA, Bayer Corporation, USA.
